Clash Official User Guide
Get Started in 5 Minutes

Clash Official Site walks you through download, install, subscription import, rule routing, and node switching — complete your first setup in 5 minutes with our download page.

Quick Start

Three steps to download and launch your Clash client

  1. 1

Download the official client for your platform

Go to our official download page and pick the recommended client for your OS (e.g. Clash Verge Rev for Windows, ClashX Meta or Clash Verge Rev for macOS, ClashMeta for Android). Install per platform instructions.

  2. 2

Get a subscription link or config file

Obtain a Subscription URL from your proxy provider — typically https://.... It includes node lists, rules, and policy groups — the most common Clash config method.

  3. 3

    Import config and enable proxy

Import the subscription link in your client, select a node or policy group, and enable system proxy or TUN mode. Platform sections below have detailed steps.

Tip: For first-time use, enable "Rule mode" — trusted sites stay direct, other traffic via proxy, no manual switching needed.

Import subscription link

Subscription is Clash's core config method — works with all mainstream clients

  1. 1

    Copy subscription URL

Log into your provider dashboard, find "Subscription Link" or "Clash Subscription", and copy the full URL. Prefer links labeled Clash / Mihomo over universal subscriptions.

  2. 2

    Add subscription in client

Entry points vary slightly: common path is Profiles / Config → New → Import from URL, paste the link and confirm. Some clients support QR scan or clipboard auto-detect.

  3. 3

    Update subscription and select config

After import, click "Update" to sync latest nodes. If you have multiple subscriptions, switch active config in the list. Enable "Auto-update subscription" to keep nodes current.

Security: Subscription links contain server credentials — never share them. Get subscriptions only from trusted sources; beware of phishing links.

Rule Mode & Policy Groups

Understand routing logic so Clash handles all traffic routing automatically

Rule mode (recommended)

Routes by preset rules: local IPs/domains direct, other traffic via proxy. Ideal for daily use — no need to decide per site.

Global mode

All traffic through proxy. Use only when everything must be proxied — may slow local sites.

Direct mode

Proxy off, all traffic direct. For temporarily disabling proxy or troubleshooting.

  1. 1

    Policy groups and node selection

Configs usually include "Proxy Select", "Auto Select", "Fallback", etc. Choose a policy group on the proxy page, then pick a node, or use "Auto Select" for latency-based best line.

  2. 2

    Latency test

Most clients support one-click URL Test. Click speed test in the node list and pick stable lines by latency (ms) — lower is usually better.

Windows Guide

For Clash Verge Rev, FlClash, Clash Plus, and other Windows clients

  1. 1

    Install client

Get the installer from our download page, double-click .exe and follow the wizard. Windows 11 usually has WebView2 built in; install the runtime if prompted.

  2. 2

    Import Subscription

Open client → "Profiles" or "Config" → "New" → paste subscription URL → save and update. Activate the config to see the node list.

  3. 3

    Enable proxy

On the home page, select "Rule mode" and toggle "System Proxy" or "TUN mode". System proxy suits browsers and regular apps; TUN captures more app traffic — choose as needed.

macOS Guide

For ClashX Meta, Clash Verge Rev, FlClash, Clash Plus, and others

  1. 1

    Install and first launch

Download .dmg and drag the app to Applications. If blocked on first launch, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click "Open Anyway".

  2. 2

    Import config

ClashX Meta: menu bar icon → "Config" → "Managed Config" → "Manage" → add subscription URL. Clash Verge Rev: similar to Windows — import from URL on the config page.

  3. 3

    Enable proxy

Choose "Set as system proxy" or "Enhanced mode (TUN)". Menu bar lets you quickly switch outbound mode and nodes — use "Rule mode" for daily use.

Android Guide

For ClashMeta for Android, FlClash, Clash Plus, and others

  1. 1

    Install APK

Get APK from our download page (ARM64 recommended). If blocked for unknown source, allow in system settings and complete install.

  2. 2

    Import Subscription

Open app → "Config" → "New config" → "Import from URL" → paste subscription link → save. Tap update icon to sync nodes.

  3. 3

    Start VPN service

Select config and tap the "Stopped" toggle, grant VPN permission. Choose "Rule mode" and a node — runs stably in background.

iOS / iPadOS Guide

For Clash Plus and other App Store clients

  1. 1

    Install from App Store

Use our download page to open App Store and install Clash Plus (or provider-recommended compatible client). Requires iOS 13.0+.

  2. 2

    Add subscription

Open app → tap "+" → "Import from URL" or scan QR → paste subscription link → complete import and update node list.

  3. 3

    Connect and rules

On dashboard, select policy group and node, tap connect. First connection requires allowing VPN config. Use rule mode — rule-matched traffic stays direct.

Linux Guide

For Clash Verge Rev, FlClash GUI clients, or Mihomo CLI core

  1. 1

    GUI client (recommended)

Get .deb / .rpm / AppImage from our download page. DEB: sudo dpkg -i *.deb, RPM: sudo rpm -i, AppImage: run directly.

  2. 2

    Import and enable

Launch Clash Verge Rev or FlClash, import subscription from URL on config page, select rule mode, enable system proxy or TUN — same as Windows.

  3. 3

    CLI core (advanced)

Download Mihomo core, extract, prepare config.yaml, run ./mihomo -d . to start. Use systemd for auto-start; Web dashboard default port is usually 9090.
